“Caroline is a specialist taxation expert who joined the firm in 2004. She is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and has a BA Honours Degree in Accountancy and Finance specialising in Taxation.
Caroline deals with all aspects of personal taxation within the firm including capital gains tax, property tax, partnership tax, inheritance tax and trusts. Her work mostly relates to compliance and advisory work, including tax planning for high net worth clients. She also advises clients on tax credits, student finance and grant claims.
Caroline applies her specialist knowledge and experience to the day to day management of our tax department ensuring that all team members are up to date with changes in legislation and current HMRC practices.”
Ruth Mort FCA
“Ruth is a Chartered Accountant who joined Sowerby FRS in 2001 after training and qualifying with KMPG and then spending some years in various positions within industry. Ruth works closely with our clients in preparing financial accounts and management accounts in addition to business advisory services and VAT, payroll and audit work.
She recently undertook the relevant training to carry out non-contentious probate and estate administration work, and has now become involved in this type of work for our clients.
Ruth has particular experience and expertise in three key sectors, maintaining key relationships with solicitor clients, charities, and social enterprises.”
“Neil combines a dual role as both experienced accountancy professional undertaking accounts preparation, tax and audit management and IT expert responsible for the management of our IT systems and network administration. Since joining the firm in 1991 Neil has been involved in the implementation of our Tax and Accounting systems from our first ‘proper client server’ implementation in 1997 to current online and cloud platforms.
In addition to IT systems management and in-house IT support, Neil also manages our corporate clients' event-driven Companies House filing, company formations and, with a background in accounts preparation, assisting colleagues and clients with their desktop/cloud accounts and payroll packages and IT support.
Neil is also responsible for the bulk of the firm’s social media output, marketing materials and online client communications.”
